Talking Brexit with Natwest

By RAC Associate Simon Haley
Simon was invited to speak at a recent NatWest Bank Agriculture team focused event on Brexit in early February 2018.
The event was held at Samlesbury Hall in Lancashire, with Simon’s talk focusing on the impacts of Brexit on the farming industry, and also the multitude of available rural grant funding opportunities presently available.
Simon described the range of current grant schemes, including Countryside Stewardship, Countryside Productivity, LEADER and Growth Programme.
Speaking alongside Simon at the event were Napthens solicitors and SHP Valuers, providing wider context of issues influenced by Brexit, such as land values and succession. A presentation was made by the Field Nurse Trust, a local charity promoting Drop-in Wellbeing Clinics to support the Rural Community.
Approximately 50 farmers and industry professionals were in the audience, with excellent feedback on the topics discussed.
